Why do I travel?

I travel to learn,
to feel what it’s like walking through different cities.
I travel for clarity,
simply to see the stars, sunrises and sunsets.
I travel because I appreciate the privilege,
growing up, I didn’t think it would be possible for me.
I travel because it helps me be a better person,
to escape.
It reminds me I’m more than the shy girl, the waitress, the mess.
I travel to people watch.
I travel to take risks,
to have adventures.
I travel to escape the bubble.
I travel because when I was young, the UK was my world- I thought Brazil and Spain were neighbours, I’d never heard of Thailand and my only knowledge of Bosnia and Vietnam was of the Wars.
I travel to experience countries and their kindness first hand- to wipe clean any pre-conceived expectations I had from the news or society.
I will keep travelling because it has blown my mind how much I didn’t know or couldn’t know and how much I have left to find.
