Willie J Healey shares new track ‘Why You Gotta Do It’
His latest bop is accompanied by a brilliant new vid too.
Giving us our first glimpse of his hotly anticipated second album (the follow-up to 2017’s ‘People And Their Dogs’), Willie J Healey has shared new track ‘Why You Gotta Do It’.
“Why you gotta do it?” Willie says of the laidback bop. “You’re breaking my heart. You know it doesn’t make you happy. It’s a love song to myself and anyone else who needs some cash.”
Accompanied by a brilliant video directed by Joe Wheatley, it sees Willie sporting some fetching golden grills as he enjoys life making music in his caravan and chilling with chickens. Natch.
Talking to us for our December 2019/January 2020 issue, Willie told us about his upcoming new record, “My first album was a bit like a Beatles album; there are all different types of songs on it and it’s kind of all over the place. This one is still quite varied but it has more of a definite style. I think I’ve found a happy medium for myself. I’ve found my sound. Overall, I’m a lot more comfortable with myself and confident with my songwriting whereas before I was always maybe drawing on other people quite heavily.
“I think there’s some tracks on here which will resonate with people more than ever. I feel like it’s a much stronger album. I don’t know if it’s peak ‘me’ but, for the sake of my bank account, I hope it is!”
