Slowdive Announce London Reunion Show

Reformed shoegazers also hint at possibility of new music.

Yesterday Slowdive stuck out like a sore thumb in the great-band-ageddon line up for 2014’s Primavera Sound

. Their reformation was confirmed alongside the news, and since then they’ve announced a further string of show to commemorate their reunion.

The band’s first show since their 1994 breakup takes place at London’s Village Underground on 19th May (which, bar two days’ difference, marks almost the 20th anniversary of their 21st May final show back in Toronto all those years back).

Alongside the new dates, Neil Halstead went into further detail about the band getting back together in conversation with The Quietus. He says ‘we were surprisingly good’ in their first rehearsal in 2 decades, while giving hints at new material by stating ‘while we’re rehearsing we can see if we’ve got another record in us.’

‘I’m not interested in any critical reappraisal. It’s more about the people who are into it and like the records rather than proving anything to anyone. We’re not getting paid enough for there to be any real financial incentive for doing it. But there are loads of artistic reasons, especially if we can get a new record together.’
