Paul McCartney announces new album ‘Egypt Station’
The album, out in September, is being previewed by new AA-side ‘I Don’t Know’/’Come On To Me’.
Yesterday, Paul McCartney announced details of a new AA-side single. The new tracks, ‘I Don’t Know’ and ‘Come On To Me’, are out now, along with details on the legend’s new album!
‘Egypt Station’ - Macca’s first new full-length since 2013’s ‘New’ - will come out on 7th September via Capitol Records. We’ve also got a world exclusive interview with the star about the new record and plenty, plenty more. Read that in full here.
Of the album’s title, he says: “I liked the words ‘Egypt Station.’ It reminded me of the ‘album’ albums we used to make.., Egypt Station starts off at the station on the first song and then each song is like a different station. So it gave us some idea to base all the songs around that. I think of it as a dream location that the music emanates from.”
The record has been produced by the mighty Greg Kurstin. Talking in our new interview about working with the producer, who’s recently produced the new Chvrches record, Paul told us: “I remember going up to the studio a couple of times with Greg and saying, oh well I was listening to this programme last night and I thought on ‘Penny Lane’ it was just one piano that I played but it turns out it’s eight!
“We were goofing around on that, and it inspires you and makes you think you can go anywhere. It’s still gonna sound like a piano, but sonically you can play with it. ‘…Pepper’ was a big influence.”
