Milk Teeth bring massive circle pits to… er, The Pit
With their parents side of stage, Stroud’s finest smash it.
“This song’s dedicated to my mum,” announces Milk Teeth’s Becky Blomfield, grinning side of stage towards a herd of very emotional-looking parents. “It’s called ‘Swear Jar’.”
Despite the breakneck pace today - Chris Webb acts as onstage usher, demanding mayhem and waving wildly at Milk Teeth show regulars; often mid-riff – the band don’t just charge forward on one setting, whether they’re nodding to their mums, or using the stage to open up dialogue. “We need to normalise mental health, and make it less of a taboo,” Becky says, before casting a rare moment of hush across The Pit with deeply personal track ‘Kabuki’. From then on, it’s limb-flailing, beer-flinging chaos all the way.
Virtually every single body in The Pit stirs up brown dust, orbiting frantically to a saw-vocalled ‘Get A Clue’ and cranium-busting ‘Brain Food’. Ten minutes after the set, the dust still hasn’t settled. Milk Teeth’s collective mums and dads sure pick their gigs well. Today, Stroud’s finest single-handedly smash the Reading record for barmiest circle pit.
