Manchester Orchestra are picture perfect in the video for ‘The Grocery’

Their latest album ‘A Black Mile To The Surface’ came out in July.

Manchester Orchestra released their latest album ‘A Black Mile To The Surface’ back in July.

Now they’ve unveiled a new video for its track ‘The Grocery’, directed by Johnny Chew. In it, we see the passage of time in a dilapidated house as told through pictures, as framed family photos throughout various generations intermingle and change. There’s also some little oddities to keep an eye on, and sometimes the pictures bleed, which is a little bit disturbing…

Director Chew explained: “I based the idea for the video on the concept of a family’s pain and struggles being passed down through generations. Every family has a weird history they try to ignore or overcome. Rather than focusing on a concrete narrative, I wanted a more loose, visceral experience as if we have just stumbled across these family heirlooms and are trying to make sense of them ourselves, with only hints and suggestions to what was truly going on”.

When Manchester Orchestra released their latest album, we caught up with them to chat about how they’ve become a truly great rock band. Catch up here.
