Listen: SZA Shares ‘Sweet November’ Track From Debut Album
Retro-fused, jazz-inspired - SZA exposes a completely new side on a take from her ‘Z’ debut.
Maplewood’s SZA claims to be primarily inspired by jazz influences, with the likes of John Coltrane weaving their way into her tracks. That’s never been clearer than on new song ‘Sweet November’, which practically feels like it’s been improvised on the spot, spacious production linking hot-and-heated guitar lines with laid back vocals.
The new track appears on debut album ‘Z’, out 8th April via Top Dawg Entertainment. It links up with ‘Childs Play’, a song featuring Chance the Rapper that came out late last month. While that number played into the hands of a present day zeitgeist, ‘Sweet November’ is the complete opposite, up to its neck in retro routine.
