We chat to Brighton’s punk duo in the midst of a busy festival season following the release of their debut EP.

Hello and welcome to DIY’s introducing feature, Get To Know… which aims to get you a little bit closer to the buzziest new acts that have been catching our eye as of late, and working out what makes them tick.

Earlier this summer, Brighton duo Lambrini Girls released their ferocious debut EP ‘You’re Welcome’, which showcased their biting, attitude-packed brand of incendiary punk via the likes of tracks such as ‘Help Me I’m Gay’, ‘White Van’ and ‘Lads Lads Lads’.

Now, as the band continue their summer of festival appearances, we caught up with the duo to dig into some of their early inspirations, the vibe of their gigs, and what they hope listeners will take away from their music.

Describe your music to us in the form of a Tinder bio.
Music to shag behind the bins to and makes your tits explode.

Who were some artists that inspired you when you were just starting out (and why)?Courtney Love and Stevie Nicks - rogue human beings and like us, not to be trusted around knives.

Which track of yours should a first-time listener start with, and why?
’Help Me I’m Gay’ because it will turn you gay.

Are there any other artists breaking through right now that you’re excited or inspired by?
The South East has a gazillion bands which are doing well right now: there’s CLT DRP, guitar sounds like a robot; Snayx, the only geezers we trust; Currls [who have] one pop song which is ACAB as fuck; Hutch, [like] The Beatles except unproblematic, serving cunt on the harp.

Describe the vibe of one of your gigs in three words.
Hold friends accountable.

If you could revisit one decade/ era/ scene in music, where would you go?
2001 Sugababes/ Girls Aloud era. [We’d] party with Paris Hilton and then kill Mark Zuckerberg before he has a chance to create the metaverse.

If people could take away one thing from your music, what would it be?
You deserve spaces you feel safe in. You deserve the space to express yourselves authentically. Don’t let anyone make you think that’s asking too much for that. That is the bare minimum. Also fuck the police.
