Fontaines DC and Glass Animals are the cover stars of our July 2020 issue - out now!
This month’s issue also features interviews with Celeste, Dream Wife, Creeper, Denai Moore and more.
While this summer’s calendar may be missing a few of our more regular music staples - like festivals and outdoor live shows *sob* - that doesn’t mean that July is going to be a quiet month: in fact, quite to the contrary, over the next few sunny weeks, a literal shed-load of brilliant new music is set to be unleashed into the world, and that’s what we’re celebrating with our July 2020 issue.
In that same spirit, we thought, why not go even bigger than usual, and release two new covers, rather than just the one? Good thinking, eh! And that’s why we’ve invited both Dublin’s prodigal sons Fontaines DC and the insatiable Glass Animals to the cover this month.
In our July 2020 issue, we discover the hardships that lay along the way for both bands, during the making of their brand new records: for Fontaines DC, the speed with which they propelled forward found them feeling disillusioned in the wake of making ‘Dogrel”s follow-up, while the well-documented accident of drummer Joe Seaward saw Glass Animals also take a more reflective turn.
Elsewhere this issue, we dive headfirst into the (real life) curse surrounding Creeper’s new record ‘Sex, Death & The Infinite Void’, we catch up with 2020 rising star Celeste, who tells us all about the unexpected turn her year has taken, and Dream Wife are back to talk us through their new second record.
There are also chats with Denai Moore and Crack Cloud, while this month’s Neu section features profiles on Hackney rapper Bree Runway, Cardiff’s glammed-up Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard, Tik Tok soundtracker mxmtoon and Dublin quintet Silverbacks.
As a small reminder, because of the social distancing measures that are still in place across the UK, we will not be printing our regular run of magazines, and will instead be sharing our full issue digitally below. We will, however, be printing a small bespoke run for anyone who would like to get their hands on a physical copy - please pre-order your copy below and it’ll be sent to you shortly.
As featured in the July 2020 issue of DIY, out now.
