Courtney Barnett reveals plans for new instrumental album, ‘End Of The Day’
The Australian artist has also shared the record’s first three tracks.
Courtney Barnett has announced that she’ll be releasing an instrumental album, ‘End Of The Day’, set for release on 8th September. Originally starting life as a series of improvisations, the album is an exploration of atmosphere and texture beyond what’s offered by stereotypical song structures.
‘End of The Day’ will be released via Mom+Pop and Courtney’s own label, Milk! Records; it will also be the label’s final release ahead of its closure at the end of this year. Stemming from a handful of experimental sessions following Courtney’s last album, ‘Things Take Time, Take Time’, the instrumentals for ‘End Of The Day’ were deemed the perfect accompaniment to filmmaker Danny Cohen’s ‘Anonymous Club’ documentary on her career to date.
Courtney has also today shared the first three tracks from the album: ‘Start Somewhere’, ‘Life Balance’, and ‘First Slow’, which come accompanied by a visualiser directed by Clarie Vogel; watch it below.
