The BRITs have named The Last Dinner Party as the winners of their 2024 Rising Star Award, as announced last night on BBC Radio 1 by Clara Amfo. It’s an accolade that’s previously been bestowed on the likes of Adele, Sam Fender and Florence + The Machine, as well as the most recent winners FLO.

Speaking about receiving the nod, the band have commented: “We are so proud beyond measure to have won the BRITs Rising Star. It’s an honour to achieve something so iconic so early on in our career and we can only hope to keep making music that connects with all the incredible people who have listened to and supported us so far. Thank you!”

The five-piece - who recently announced details of their much-anticipated debut album, ‘Prelude To Ecstasy’ - were shortlisted alongside fast-rising pop star Caity Baser (who’s got a UK headline tour planned for next year); and Leicester’s soulful sensation Sekou (who was selected by Arlo Parks to perform at Glasto ‘22).

Voted for by an invited industry-wide panel, artists are eligible for the Rising Star Award if, as of 31st October 2023, they have not yet placed in the Official Album Charts Top 20 or gained more than one Top 20 in the Official Singles Chart.
