Be Your Own Pet release latest track ‘Goodtime!’

‘Goodtime!’ is the new single from Nashville punks Be Your Own Pet, who have this past year returned to releasing music and playing live after a nearly 15 year hiatus. The track is a nod to how things have changed for the band, but it’s far from low energy. Rollicking drums and garage guitars form the foundation for vocalist Jemina Pearl’s musings on growing up and motherhood: “I can’t be that way no more / I’ve got two kids and a mortgage / What the fuck”.

Speaking about the track, Jemina says: “‘Goodtime!’ is about those moments where the responsibility of adulthood overwhelms you, and you wonder “how the fuck did I get here?!”. You find yourself longing for the days of partying with abandon, not worrying if the babysitter is going to cancel, and jealous of your friends who are still living the carefree life. Mom’s just want to have fun too”.

The track is another layer to the building anticipation for Be Your Own Pet’s forthcoming album ‘Mommy’, out on 25th August via Jack White’s label Third Man Records. The band have also just announced a handful of live dates across the UK to coincide with the release, supported by rising London duo Fräulein.
